It was a time when the industry was still in a nascent stage and the country was heavily dependent on an assortment of imported goods from the developed or fast developing countries. The ESI Act 1948 encompasses certain health related eventualities that the workers are generally exposed to; such as sickness, maternity, temporary or permanent disablement, Occupational disease or death due to employment injury, resulting in loss of wages or earning capacity-total or partial.

ESIC Chandigarh - Stenographer 2021 Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for Stenographer is as follows:

  1. The written test will consist of one paper containing 2 subjects/sections – General English & General Awareness.
  2. The questions will be set in Hindi & English language for General Awareness.
  3. The maximum marks will be for 200 marks.
  4. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  5. Duration of the exam is 2 hours ( 2 hrs 40 minutes for VH candidates).

After the written test, there will be Stenography Test and after that Computer Skill Test will be conducted to assess working knowledge of candidates. The Computer Skill Test shall comprise of three parts: 

Part A: Preparation of two Power Point Presentations/Slides on MS-Power Point – 10 Marks
Part B: Typing a letter/paragraph/passage of about 150-200 words in MS-Word – 20 Marks
Part C: Preparation of Table/ Database in MS-Excel – 20 Marks

The total marks for Computer Skill Test shall be of 50 marks with 30 minutes duration for completing all the three parts.
