Industrial Design at NID, Vijayawada, focuses on preparing students for professional growth as well as for societal contribution as industrial designers. The course curriculum for Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) in industrial design commences with a rigorous foundation program in order to lay a strong base on fundamentals of design.

Further, each progressing semester contains courses to support the semester projects, ensuring theoretical and practical learning of the subjects. The curriculum is critically designed to build the core strengths as well as specialization as per the changing industry requirements. Students also work in close interaction with industry to identify their specialization such as consumer electronics, kitchenware, furniture, etc and accordingly develop their portfolio of works.

For Graduate Diploma Programme in Design

This 4-year intensive professional Graduate Diploma in Design ( GDPD ) programme is offered in the following areas of specialization at the NID Vijayawada campus.

Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2 ) or equivalents like AISSCE / IB / ISC during the academic year 2018-19.

Successful candidates shall be given admission to the academic programme, by the institute, subject to their passing the qualifying examinations.

The medium of instruction at NID is English.

Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years ( relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories ) as on June 1, 2018.

Allotment of the discipline of choice at the end of Foundation year is NOT guaranteed. Discipline allotment takes place only at the end of the first year ( Foundation Programme ), based purely on student’s performance in the Foundation Programme and the number of seats available in desired discipline.
