The University College of Law was established in January 1909 and in February 1983 it was granted the status as the Department of Law of the University of Calcutta ( now University of Kolkata ).

University of Calcutta conducted the Entrance Test on 2014 for the Admission into 1st Semester of 5-year B.A.LL.B. course for the academic session 2014- 2015. Applications are invited from B.A.LL.B ( Hons. ) / B.A.LL.B / LL.B ( Hons. ) / LL.B. passed or appeared at Final Examination, 2014 candidates in prescribed form for admission to 1st Year of 2â€Year LL.M. course 2014â€2016 for the Department of Law, C.U.

Reservation of seats – 2014

Admission to LL.M. course shall be open to applicants who have passed their B.A.LL.B ( Hons. ) / B.A.LL.B / LL.B ( Hons. ) / LL.B. examination from this university or from other university recognized by the University of Calcutta.

Fifty percent ( 50%) of the total number of seats in the 1st Year shall be reserved for B.A.LL.B ( Hons. )

candidates of this university { one seat is reserved for other university B.A.LL.B.( Hons. ) / LL.B. ( Hons.) student ( 1st class ) according to merit }, for the remaining seats Entrance Test will be conducted.

Reservation of seats for SC, ST, OBC and Physically Challenged candidates will be as per university rules. After Entrance Test, the admission will be done through Merit List. Appeared candidates must produce their final mark sheet at the time admission.

Exam pattern:

The written test will be of 100 marks, 60 marks for MCQ, and 40 marks for subjective test from B.A.LL.B. Syllabus of C.U.

The written Test will be held on 17 / 08 / 2014 from 1p.m. to 2.30 p.m. in the Department of Law, 51/1, Hazra Road, Kolkata – 700019.
