Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research ( PGIMER ) Entrance Examination

PGIMER 2019 – The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has announced the exam date of PGIMER 2019 July session, which is to be conducted on May 12. PGIMER, Chandiagrh is the conducting authority of PGIMER July 2019 session, medical entrance examination. PGIMER exam is conducted biannually for January and July session. PGIMER application form 2019 will be released online in second week of March. Only aspirants who will fulfill certain PGIMER 2019 eligibility criteria can register themselves for PGIMER July session entrance exam. Only candidates whose applications will be accepted successfully can download the admit card of PGIMER 2019 in the last week of April.

Aspirants who have completed their MBBS from a university/ institute which should be recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) can appear for the PG medical entrance exam. PGIMER 2019, a computer based test will contain 250 multiple choice questions (MCQs) and only three hours will be allotted to complete the test. The test takers securing PGIMER cutoff 2019 percentile will be included the result. The qualifying percentile for general category is 55, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 50. The result of PGIMER 2019 will be released a day after the exam is conducted, which is May 13. Only the qualified aspirants will be eligible to participate for offline counselling process.

Recognized as one of the premier medical institutions of the country, the MD and MS programmes of PGIMER Chandigarh follow a structure involving residency-cum-training over a period of three years.  Candidates taking admission through PGIMER exam will be called as Junior Residents. The process of admission through PGIMER 2019 will be strictly according to the merit and rank secured by the candidates in the entrance examination. Medicine Courses at PGIMER

The following courses are offered at PGIMER under medical stream:

  • MD– This course is for a duration of three years. The candidate who wants to take admission into this course must have an MBBS degree or its equivalent qualification which is recognised by the Medical Council of India. The subjects in this course include:

  • MS- The next in line is the MS, offered at the institute. The course is of three years duration and will cover the following subjects:

The basic qualification which is required for this an MBBS degree or equivalent as for MD.

  • MDS: MDS is for those students who have done their undergraduate in dentistry i.e. they have a valid BDS degree from a recognized university. The total duration of the course is three years and the following subjects are taught:
  1. Orthodontics
  2. Pedodontics
  3. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Ph.D. –  This course is for a total of 3 years and includes All Medical Discipline All Non-medical Discipline. The aspirants of this course have to contact the official authorities for all the information about the counselling process.
  • Post M.D. Certificate Course: It is a certificate course offered by PGIMER. This course is for duration of 1 year and includes the following subjects:

  2. Biotechnology
  3. Immunopathology

The eligibility for all the 3 courses is different. For the first 2 courses, the candidate should have MD(Pathology) and MD(Medicine) respectively. For the 3rd course, the candidate should have MD(Pathology) or MvSc.
