Osmania University, established in the year 1918, is the seventh oldest university in the country, third oldest in South India and the oldest in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It was founded by His Exalted Highness Mir Osman Ali Khan, the Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad State. It was the first University to impart higher education through Urdu as the medium of instruction. It is the largest affiliating University in Asia with close to 800 affiliated colleges spread over 3 districts of Telangana ( Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medak ) providing academic and research facilities for nearly five lakh students. It was accredited with a ‘FIVE STAR’ rating by the NAAC in the year 2001, and reaccredited with the highest grade ‘A’ in 2008. It has been ranked 7th among the top Indian Universities as per the recent survey done by India Today – Nielson.

Registration Fee:

The registration fee for online submission of application is Rs.650/- ( Rs. 450/- in case of SC / ST candidates, Rs.200/- in case of PH candidates ). The procedure for payment of Registration fee is available in the website: www.ouadmissions.com.

Minimum Qualification Marks:

The minimum marks for qualifying the Ph.D. Eligibility Test shall be 50% in case of Open category candidates, 45% in case of B. C. candidates and 40% in case of SC / ST category candidates.

Students belonging to Physically Challenged category are allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in each category.

The Ph. D. Eligibility Test is valid only for one year concerned to the Ph. D. Admission Notification.

The Hall Tickets along with entrance schedules and necessary instructions will be made available in OU websites: www.ouadmissions.com or www.osmania.ac.in. The candidates have to download the Hall Tickets and affix a latest passport size photograph ( which is exactly similar to the one uploaded in the Online Application ) in the space provided and get it attested by a Gazetted Officer / Principal of a college. Without the Hall Ticket, the candidate is not allowed to appear for entrance test.

The admission to Ph.D. course is subject to the concerned rules and regulations of Osmania University that are in force from time to time. Qualifying in the Ph.D. eligibility test does not alone guarantee admission to Ph.D. programme. The admission is subject to availability of vacancies with the research supervisors in the concerned department, the candidates’ academic record, the performance of the candidate in the Ph.D. admission interview and the State Govt. reservation policy. The University invites applications separately for Ph.D. Programmes through its website and press notification after the declaration of the Ph.D. Eligibility test results.
