Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test

Kerala Government has advertised a notification of Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) August 2017 to select teachers for Category I (Lower Primary Classes) Category II (Upper Primary Classes) Category III (High School Classes) and Category IV (for Language Teachers – Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Crafts) and Physical Education Teachers. Eligible candidates can apply online from 03-07-2017 to 17-07-2017 for Step-I Registration & from 04-07-2017 to 18-07-2017 for Step-II Registration. Other details like age limit, educational qualification, application fee details, selection process and how to apply are given below.

KTET-I Syllabus

Subject

Topics to Study

Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11)

The syllabus shall focus on understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, interaction with focus on understanding for characteristics and needs of diverse, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning

Mathematics & Environmental Studies

The test items of Mathematics and Environmental Studies shall focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject areas, the test items shall be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject prescribed for classes I - V by SCERT.

Language I-Malayalam/ Tamil/ Kannada

The test items for Language – I (Malayalam/Kannada/Tamil) shall focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction as chosen by the candidate at the time of submitting the application.

Language II- English/Arabic

Language II shall be from the prescribed options other than Language I. Candidates can choose any one language from the available language options and the same shall be specified in the application form. The test items in Language II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities

The questions in the tests for Paper I will be based on the topics of the syllabus prescribed for classes I - V, but the difficulty level, as well as linkages, could be up to the secondary stage.

KTET-II Syllabus

Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 11-14)

They will focus on understanding the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners, interaction with learners and attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.

For Mathematics and Science teachers: Mathematics and Science

or

For Social Science teachers: Social Science

or

For any other teachers (a) or (b)

Shall focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects. The test items of Mathematics and Science shall be for 30 marks each. The test items shall be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject as prescribed for classes V-VIII by SCERT, Kerala.

Language I-Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English

Shall focus on the proficiency related to the medium of instruction as chosen from the list of prescribed options in the application form.

Language II-(Other than Language I) Malayalam/English

The Language II shall be a language other than Language I. A candidate may choose any one language from among the available options while submitting the application form. The candidate has to attempt the related language applied for. The test items in Language II shall also focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.

The questions in the tests for Paper II shall be based on the topics of the prescribed in the syllabus by SCERT, Kerala for classes V to VIII, but the difficulty level as well as linkages will be up to the higher/senior secondary stage.

KTET-III Syllabus

Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude

The test items on Adolescent Psychology, theories of Learning & Teaching Aptitude will focus on the educational psychology, principles and approaches of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 13-17. They will focus on understanding the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners, interaction with the learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.

Language: Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada

The test items for Language (Malayalam/ English/ Tamil/ Kannada) will focus on the proficiency related to the medium of instruction.

Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy)

The test items in subject specific areas will focus on the pedagogical understanding, concepts and ideas of the subjects concerned.

The questions in the test will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus published by SCERT; Kerala for classes VIII - XII but the difficulty level as well as linkages could be up to graduate level.

KTET-IV Syllabus

Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude

Questions will focus on understanding the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners, interaction with the learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.

Language: Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada

The test item for Language (Malayalam/ English/ Tamil/ Kannada) will focus on the proficiency related to the medium of instruction.
