Chellammal Women s College of the Pachaiyappa s Trust

Chellammal Women's College (CWC), Chennai was established in 1971. The college plays a significant role among the various educational institutions of Pachaiyappa’s Trust in imparting education to the women students of the economically and socially backward sections of the society.The college is named after the philanthropist Mylai Chellammal, wife of Thiru.Vadamalai Gramani who donated her land to Pachaiyappa’s Trust for thecause of women.The foundation stone was laid by the then Education Minister of the State Thiru. Navalar Nedunchezian on 22nd July 1971 on 12 acres of land. 

 

The College started functioning since then, approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and is affiliated to the University of Madras. Since the college inception it has been tirelessly striving for the upliftment of the poor and the down-trodden. Today, one of the biggest institutions in India both in terms of the number of courses offered and students strength. The main aim of Institute is complete personality development of the student Extra-Curricular and Co-curricular activities go hand in hand with academic programmes.
