G.Venkataswamy Naidu College

The idea of starting a college at Kovilpatti was mooted on 29 April, 1966 by the auspices of the G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Charity Trust for Education and Medical Relief. G.Venkataswamy Naidu College was born on 30 June 1966. The regular classes commenced with the blessings of the then Zamindar of Illayarasanendal Shri K.R.Appaswamy Naidu.The college was formally inaugurated on 17 July 1966 by Honorable Mr.M.Bakthavatsalam, Chief-Minister of Madras.

The College was further upgraded into a Post Graduate Institution by starting M.Sc (Mathematics). In view of the successful growth of the college, the management decided to start Career Oriented courses in the year 1994 under Self-Financing Scheme and decided to conduct all the Self-Financing courses in a separate campus without causing any inconvenience to the aided courses in the main campus. As a first step B.Sc (Computer Science) course was started under the affiliation of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli and the other courses were started one after another in the subsequent years. The Self-Financing courses of G.Venkataswamy Naidu College provide students with a whole range of Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities to make their campus life interesting and to develop them into extra talented personalities.
