Government Arts College for Women, Pudukkottai

Government Arts College for Women, Pudukottai is an affiliated College of the Bharathidasan University, Tamil Nadu. It is a grant in aid college situated in Pudukottai catering to womens education, particularly the socially and economically backward students of the district. The college was established in 1969 with the sole aim of imparting higher education to the women of this backward district. The Motto of the college is Self Reliance and Service. The motto stimulates the students to grow with self support and humanity. In its forty three years of service, the college has achieved considerable success in accomplishing its mission. The College has a vast campus of 21 acres and 69 cents. In the beginning, the building was sufficient for only for few strength. With the subsequent addition of new courses, gradually more buildings have been sanctioned and constructed out of the funds provided by the Tamil Nadu Government, UGC, members of the Parliament ,the state Legislative Assembly. A good share of the Namakku Namae Plan of the State Government also has contributed towards the growth of infrastructure.

The college committed to the total upliftment of the society by imparting quality professional education, aiming at modeling totally competent professionals with ingenuity, adaptability, social commitment and ethical spiritual values by creating a congenial academic ambience that kindles innovative thinking, continually upgrade the Quality Management System through empowerment and involvement.The vision is to provide good environment for individuals to transform into technologically superior, socially committed, spiritually elevated and nationally responsible women citizens. With the efficient leadership and guidance from various eminent Principals, the college has grown in its length and breadth from PUC to the present Research level with a strength of more than 3000 students. Apart from inculcating knowledge, the students are exposed to multifarious activities like NSS, YDS, SSL, YRS, RRC, Sports and Yoga education for creating personality development and community awareness among students.
