About College

Govt. Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM), Bhopal was established in 1956 after a faculty based segregation from Hamidia College, Bhopal the only government institution of higher education. The institution is honoured to be named after the renowned advocate, Statesman and freedom fighter late Shri Motilal Nehru. The foundation stone of their magnificent edifice was laid by the First President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 19th July 1958. A single faculty science institution committed and dedicated to teaching, learning and research, this esteemed institution was inaugurated by the most admired and First Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on 7th Nov. 1960 with Dr. M.S. Rao as its first Principal. The institution was then headed, guided and motivated by a galaxy of eminent educationists in the subsequent years. Spread over an area of 15 acres, the institution is endowed with unique natural scenic beauty.

 

The College is housed in the huge building comprising three separate blocks. The College has a team of 85 well qualified faculty members headed by the Principal and an equally efficient group of supporting staff. Besides guiding and inspiring the students for academic excellence, the institution makes special efforts for the all-round personality development of about 1800 youth admitted to their care. Affiliated to Barkatullah University Bhopal the college has a curriculum designed by the University. The institution was assessed and accredited by NAAC Bangalore in Feb. 2004 and was awarded ‘B+’ status.
