International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore

The International Institute of Information Technology - Bangalore, a Deemed University, popularly known as IIIT-B, was established in 1999 with a vision to contribute to the IT world by focusing on education and research, entrepreneurship and innovation. The Institute is a registered not-for-profit society funded jointly by the Government of Karnataka and the IT industry. Since its inception, IIIT-B, with its unique model of education, research, and industry interaction, has grown in stature to become an institution of considerable repute in academic as well as corporate circles. The Institute works in partnership with the corporate sector, while retaining the freedom of an academic institution. It is inspired by  other renowned institutions, and also strives to emulate an academic culture that is on par with the best international institutions. The Institute is involved in a diverse range of activities that are consistent with its mission, and contribute to society as well as the professional growth of its students and faculty.

The institute offers a great campus life for the students. The campus was designed to provide a world class teaching environment. The class rooms and teaching areas total up to an area of 80,000 square feet – most of which is air conditioned. The smart classrooms are equipped with high speed data networks and equipment for audio visual presentations. Hostel accommodation is available and the students are given individual rooms. Internet access is available at all times throughout the campus and all students are given a wi-fi enabled laptop for use. The institute arised to build on the track record set by India in general and Bangalore in particular, to enable India to play a key role in the IT scenario through a world-class institute with a focus on education and research, entrepreneurship and innovation. The Institute also hosts many visitors from all over the world throughout the year. These include prominent political leaders from various countries, renowned academics and industry leaders, visiting scholars, and exchange students.
