About College

Katras College, Katrasgarh was established in 1964 by a group of enthusiastic social workers with the active support of the prominent citizens of the area.  Shri R.P Tewari became the first Prof.-In-charge of the college and Sri Manindra Nath Singh, Head Clerk, admitted the first student in Pre-University Course (1964-65). The college began to develop fast it was granted affiliation by the Senate of Ranchi University, Ranchi in 1969-70. Katras College, Katrasgarh soon became famous for its academic environment, discipline and other activities. Dr.K.P.S.Choudhary joined Katras College, Katras as the first Principal, appointed by the College Service Commission, Patna in 1972.

The College became a Constituent Unit of Ranchi University, Ranchi in 1980. With the formation of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, it  became a unit of the same. The College Foot Ball Team won great glory for the College when it won the Inter-College Foot-Ball championship in 1996-97 and repeated its success again in 1997-1998.The team under the able leadership of sri kuldip kumar Pandey, P.T.I won not only the championship but also the praise of all for a very disciplined performance.
