About College


The College was established on 15th July 1971 with 221 students. This is the only women’s college in Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Erode districts of Tamilnadu State. Tamil and English as medium of instruction, various arts and science degree courses are offered by this college. To establish the college, L.R.Govindarajalu Naidu family donated 22 acres of land in 1972.

The college was started with two undergraduate arts courses viz., Tamil and History in 1972 and in 1974, Zoology was added in science category. In 1977, two more under-graduate courses viz., English and Mathematics were added. Based on the demand for science subject, under-graduate course in Chemistry was started in 1980 and Physics in 1985. In arts category, Economics was added in 1998. 

In 2003, Post-graduate programmes in Tamil and English literature, Mathematics; under-graduate programmes in Physics CA and B.Com CA courses were started. Further, in 2004, B.Com and in 2005 B.Sc., Computer Science courses were also introduced for the benefit of the women students. In 2009, M.Sc., Computer Science course was started. In 2012, M.A. History, M.Com., B.Sc., Electronics were added for the benefit of the women students. In addition to this, B.Com., B.Com., CA, and B.Sc., Computer Science courses are conducted in both shifts.
