Madurai Diraviyam Thayumanavar Hindu College

The Madurai Diraviyam Thayumanavar Hindu College -  Tirunelveli, is an ancient and famous college, which was started in a modest way, in the middle of the nineteenth century- in the year 1859. It is ancient because of its age and famous because of it being the Alma Mater of many a man who has achieved great fame in their lives. The college is one of the centres of Higher Education catering to the needs of young men and women of all creeds. The motto of the college is impart Quality Education, which is, the prime instrument of National Purpose, for over a century and a quarter. It has, of course, a unique history of its own. The main objective of the founders was to provide quality education to the children in and around Tirunelveli. The larger and long term goal, it can be asserted, was to bring more and more youngsters into the fold of Modern Education whose necessity for individual and societal development had already begun to be felt then.

The college has a placement cell that arranges seminars and explanation get-togethers periodically to acquaint the students with the employment scenario with respect to both public and private sectors. A number of companies send their Human Resources Development (HRD) personnel to the college for scouting fresh talents for recruiting for their concerns. The college has a Guidance and Counselling Cell to help the learners on their personal problems also. The college committed to the total upliftment of the society by imparting quality professional education, aiming at modeling totally competent professionals with ingenuity, adaptability, social commitment and ethical spiritual values by creating a congenial academic ambience that kindles innovative thinking, continually upgrade the Quality Management System through empowerment and involvement.
