The Muslim College of Education is a benefaction of a Society known as Muslim Educational Society at Thiruvithancode, Kanyakumari District. The Muslim Educational Society was founded in 1981 with a laudable aspire of fulfilling a long-cherished need of minority Muslim community of Kanyakumari District to have an Educational Institution of their own. As a result Muslim Arts College was founded at Madhavalayam in 1982 after seeking permission from the Government of Tamilnadu and instantly affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. After the establishment of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University at Tirunelveli, it granted affiliation in 1990. 

The warmth and acceptance received from the appreciating audience for our services inspired the society to expand its programme by starting a college of education in the name of Muslim College of Education in 2007. At present 100 students are studying in B.Ed. in 7 optional subjects as detailed below 1. English 2. Tamil 3. Maths 4. History 5. Commerce 6. Physicalse and Biological etc. The M.Ed. section started functioning with an intake of 25 students in the year 2009-2010. and in the respondent at year of 2010-11 the intake has been increased from 25 to 35.

The college is situated in Thiruvithancode near Azhagiamandapam, 18 kms North of Nagercoil, 37 Kms south of Kanyakumari, 10 Kms South of Marthandam, and 11 Kms from Marthandam railway station, 18 kms from Nagercoil railway station. 40 kms from Tirvandrum and 15 kms from Parassala, Nearest Airport: Trivandrum International Airport.
