Sir Theagaraya College

Sir Theagaraya College's today there are four Trust Board Members representing two from each family of Pitty Theagaraya Chetty Senior and Sir Pitty Theagaraya Chetty Junior along with a gentleman from the Chartered Accountant Association of India The administrative Trustees are from the family of Pitty Theagaraya Chetty Senior and Sir Pitty Theagaraya Chetty Junior.

In 1931 the Educational Department was insisting upon to get the existing school namely the Hindu Secondary School under Grant-in-aid rules. The original Trustee as per partition deed, P.T.Chengalvaraya Chetty and Rao Bahadur P.T.Kumaraswamy chetty , approached the Honorable Madras High Court for formation of first Board of Trustees.

The Honorable Madras High Court permitted Sri P.T.Chengalvaraya Chetty and Rao Bahadur P.T.Kumaraswamy Chetty the second and third sons of Pitty Theagaraya Chetty. The Secondary School grew up into college status in 1950 with induction of junior intermediate. The said college never the less grew into the present status of full fledged college with research facilities.The Institution has been served by many eminent teachers and produced many a student who reached the heights of glory in their professions after getting basic education in this college which has been named as Sir Theagaraya College after the great white robed saint of Tamilnadu Sir Pitty Theagaraya Chetty.
