Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars, settled in Chennai planned to form an organization for their welfare, assembled at Backia Bhavanam (located in Tondiarpet, Chennai) of T.A.S. Rathinam & Brothers, on 14th September, 1956. Fifty two members attended the meeting, and established The Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund ( a Charitable Fund of Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars living in Chennai). The First Anniversary was held on 15th September 1957. The said fund was registered in 1961 under the Societies’ Registration Act.

This organization was established owing to the arduous efforts of Thiru.S.Gurusamy Nadar of Thiruthangal, Thiru. P.S. Thangaiah Nadar of Rajapalayam, Thiru. M.S. Ramaiah Nadar of Thiruchirappalli and Thiru. T.A.S. Arumugam of Chennai. In the early periods of the establishment of the Uravinmurai Fund, Thiru. T.A.S. Chelliah served as President and Thiru. Raja K.S.P Ganesan served as the Secretary. Thiru. S.M. Gurusamy Nadar , Thiru “Lathas” K.Thangappa Nadar, Thiru S.Chinnadurai have collectively rendered yeomen service for the growth of the organization in the initial period of its establishment.

The next milestone was in 1968 when the organization purchased a site in G.A. Road,(Now P.A.N. Rajarathinam Road), Washermenpet, Chennai-21. In the said site, a magnificent building Door No.113, named as Thiruthangal Nadar Arangam – an epitome of the members unity and solidarity was constructed with the great efforts of Thiru. M.G.Erulangudi Nadar, Treasurer of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund who was fondly addressed as "Elam Hariharaputranar". The Arangam was inaugurated on 23rd May 1983 and the following members were selected to serve as the Office Bearers of the Uravinmurai Dharma Fund during the year 1980-83.

Another turning point is the establishment of “Thiruthangal Nadar Educational Society” as part of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund on 20th September 1987. This society was registered under Tamil Nadu Registration Act 1975. The first set of Office Bearers were Thiru.S.M.Gurusamy Nadar – President, Thiru. R.G.Chandramogan – Secretary, Thiru S.Chandran – Asst. Secretary and Thiru. C.Kaniratham, Treasurer. Thiruthangal Nadar Educational Society was merged with Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund on 03rd May 2007.
