Thapar University ( TU ) was established on 8 October 1956 as an Engineering College named Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. It is a University established in 1985 vides Sec.3 of the UGC Act, 1956.Thapar University offers undergraduate programs BE / B.Tech / LEET in Engineering, Science, Management and Social Sciences. Thapar University ( TU ) Engineering Entrance Examination Merit List -2015

University will apply cutoff to delimit the number of candidates in the admission process and select the best lot for allotment. Based on the cutoff, a merit list shall be created for counselling and seat allotment.

There would be various factors which shall be considered for deciding the cutoff benchmark. It must be remembered that cutoff shall be decided on the basis of GATE 2015 as the university will not conduct any exam on its own. These factors are:

Merit list ranking
Reservation standards
Availability of seats
Number of colleges
Candidates per seat ratio

Candidates shall be allotted seats in various disciplines in the university based on the options filled by them and the respective opening and closing ranks.

After cutoff is applied, selected candidates will get the chance to participate in counselling.
