Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry will be conducting the JIPMER PG 2019 entrance exam for providing qualified applicants admissions to MD/MS postgraduate degree. The degree is offered in numerous courses such as Pathology, Microbiology, Physiology, etc in MD and General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, etc in MS. Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) under Government of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. JIPMER has been declared as an “Institution of National Importance” by an Act of Parliament, JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008. A copy of the Act was Gazette notified on 14-7-2008 to enforce this Act. Prior to this the Institute was functioning under the administrative control of Directorate General of Health Service, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. 

JIPMER PG (MD / MS) 2021 Exam Pattern

JIPMER PG 2019 Exam Pattern  :

The duration of the paper will be 3 hours and a total of 250 questions will be asked. Each question will carry 4 marks and 1 mark will be deduced for each wrong answer. The medium of the paper will be English only. The paper will be divided into two main sections with questions asked form Basic Clinical Sciences and Clinical Sciences. The pattern of the paper is given in the table below:

  • Less incorrect responses.
  • Higher aggregate marks in MBBS or equivalent examination.
  • Seniority (by age).

  • The marking scheme of JIPMER PG 2019 includes negative marking, therefore, one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response submitted. The questions that are included under marked for review section will be considered as not answered.
