IISER Kolkata offers a Bachelor and Masters (BS-MS) dual degree programme in synchrony with other IISERs. The selection for the BS-MS programme is conducted through an common annual summer selection. IISER Kolkata offers a unique training programme to the selected candidates through a balanced schedule of class room lessons, project and research works.

While the Institute aims to comprehensively train the students in each of the major subjects, much attention is also directed to the development of the inter-disciplinary skills. It is a five-year dual degree program for bright and motivated science students who have passed class XII. The program integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates satisfying at least one of the following three criteria are eligible to apply

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY): Valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2017-18 academic session; additional cut off criteria may be applicable

IIT-JEE (Advanced) 2017: Students securing at least 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in JEE Advanced 2017 rank list for admissions to IITs. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

State and Central Boards: Students securing with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in class XII board examination, as notified in website.

For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCNC) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. The cut-off percentage for the SC/ST and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in class XII for all boards.

Scholarship

All BS-MS students are eligible for KVPY or INSPIRE scholarship of Rs.5000/- per month as per DST norms subject to continued good academic performance
