Odisha Public Service Commission

Recommendations of the Royal Commission on superior services in India, 1924, referred to in short, as the Lee Commission, and now they find a place in the Constitution of India in Articles 315 to 323. The Odisha Public Service Commission was constituted on 1st April 1949 after it’s bifurcation from the former Bihar and Odisha Joint Public Service Commission. At the time of creation of the Odisha Public Service Commission, the strength of the Commission was three including Chairman. The strength increased to five in the year 1979 and further increased to six in the year 1996.

The Commission has acquired varied experiences and expertise in the matter of selection of personnel to various services of the Government of Odisha during its functioning for more than five decades. It has also gone a long way in achieving the purpose of drawing the best personnel for the public services of Odisha.

OPSC 2021 Eligibility Criteria

There are some conditions of the eligibility criteria which every applicant must fulfil before they apply for the selection process of Odisha Civil Services (Judicial). The details of the eligibility criteria have been given here:

  • An applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • He must have completed the bachelor level degree in law from a recognized institute or university.
  • The age of the applicants must not exceed 21 years.
  • Candidates must be able to speak, read and write Odia fluently and must have passed an examination in Odia language equivalent to that of Middle English School standard (i.e., Class/Standard-VII) within the final date.
  • The maximum age of the candidates must not be more than 35 years.
  • The candidates of the reserved category will be given the appropriate relaxation in their upper age.
  • The relaxation in the upper age for the candidates of the SC and ST category will be 5 years.
  • Candidates of the OBC category will be offered the age relaxation of 3 years.
