About College

Asansol Girls' College, Asansol was established in 1950. The college is affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council and awarded as grade B+. The college was started as the intermediate college; very soon in 1957-58 the college was upgraded to Degree College. Due to its reputation as an academic centre, the West Bengal Government recognized it as a Government Sponsored College in 1956.

During that era, this was the only women college in Asansol which provide higher Education. To meet the increasing demand for higher education of the girl students, the college has started the morning session for some of the courses. The college introduces some career oriented courses also. The institute has received the Heritage grant of the University Grants Commission in the year 2001.
