Barasat Government College

Barasat Government College, Kolkata was established in 1950. The college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The objective of the college is to provide access to higher education to a greater section of students from all quarters of the society, particularly from the weaker section irrespective of religion, caste or creed through formal and non formal distant learning mode without compromising to its quality. The aim of the college is to impart quality based higher education with a view to acquiring knowledge and developing of skills among the students to face national and global challenges.

 

The college to lay emphasis on value education to create human resources with modern view and foresight who can contribute to the national development by way of catering to the needs of the economy, society and the country as a whole. The college envisages to develop knowledge on basic sciences, biological sciences, humanities, physical education and multidisciplinary courses of modern relevance and to promote analytical and empirical research in basic and social sciences, and humanities with special emphasis on the needs and delicate problems of the allied areas
