Barjora College, Bankura was established to promote higher education in this area. The college is providing the needs of higher and quality education of the local people. The College comes under the University of Burdwan. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state. The University of Burdwan offers a wide array of courses to the students. The University is facilitated with various type of modern infrastructure.
