About College

Established on 15th September 1970,  Durgapur Government College, affiliated to  the University of  Burdwan is the only Government College in the District of Burdwan. The oldest institution of its kind to come up in the Steel City Durgapur,    Durgapur Government College has moved from its initial modest intake capacity of 150 students to that of around 3,500 students at present. The college is situated within a sprawling campus, which includes staff quarters, a playground & plentiful greenery.

The fundamental objectives of this institution are to help students to manifest their latent potential, not only on academics but also in extra- curricular pursuits. Students of this institution excel in the university ex-animation every year.This college offers three year under graduate degree courses in Arts (B.A.), Science (B.Sc.) and Commerce (B.Com.) as well as Post Graduate (M.Sc.)courses in Geology and Conservation Biology.
