About College

Haringhata Mahavidyalaya(HM), Nadia was established in 1986 through local people's initiative to impart instructions at undergraduate level. The college was started with 45 students and now it has more than thousands students. The college is Grant-in-Aid grid of the State Government (State Council for Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal) in 1986. The college was recognized by the UGC, under Sections 2 (f) in September, 1990 and 12-B, in February 1991. The college volunteered to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and submitted its Self Study Report (SSR) to the NAAC on 28th January 2006. The college has a campus area of 2.45 acres set in the rural environs of Haringhata, Subarnapur. The majority of the students are drawn from families of peasant background. As a co-educational institution, the college has played an important role in paving the way for higher education for women from the agricultural hinterland of Haringhata Block.  The college is affiliated to University of Kalyani, established in 1960.
