Institute of Computer & Information Sciences (ICIS), Bankura is a private non-aided College. The college was established to promote higher education in this area. The college is providing the needs of higher and quality education of the local people. The aim of the Institute is to provide excellence in education at the undergraduate level to the students of all communities and especially to the financially backward students in the rural area of the state. All academic activities are carried out in accordance with the prescribed syllabi, examination schedules and academic calendar of the Burdwan University. The institute is situated in the midst of open, attractive scenery of nature. The calm, quiet serene situation is quite conductive to academic pursuits.

The College comes under the University of Burdwan. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.
