K. K. Das College, originally known as K. K. Das College of Commerce was established in 1964. Since its inception it had been functioning from the premises of Dinabandhu Andrews College, Garia and presently the college has been shifted to its present address. This college was named after Late Kamini Kumar Das, a doctor. The requisite fund for starting the college was generously provided by the members of his family. It was started as a commerce college in the area and provided opportunities to the students of the neighbourhood who wanted to pursue undergraduate commerce education.

The college has recently been diversified. It has become a multi-faculty co-education college from the academic session 2001-02. The college now offers Honours courses in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Bengali, English and History.
