Kabi Nazrul College, Birbhum was established in 1985 as lone institute of higher education in such a remote area where the light of proper education has not yet fully reached. The college is named after Kabi Nazrul,a rebel poet in the history of Bengali literature. This is a private aided college and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The aim of the college is to provide quality education to the students. The curriculum, offered by this college is designed by the Boards of Studies of Burdwan University. The college offers under graduate courses in Arts, commerce and Science stream. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities including a well stocked library.

The college comes under the University of Burdwan, started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star statuses by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.
