About College


The Foundation Stone of Kalinagar Mahavidyalaya, (P. O. Kalinagarhat, North 24 Parganas), a co-educational college, was laid on May 1, 1985 on 14.54 acres of land. The college started with the help of the local Marketing Society, the Mazdoor Union and some enthusiastic academics of the locality. The college is affiliated to the West Bengal State University, Barasat. Its date of Affiliation is 11/08/1994 and Recognition is U/S 2(f)- 1995 and U/S 12(b) - 1995. It is located in Sandeshkhali and falls within the Basirhat Sub-division, North 24 Parganas.

The college was founded with the express purpose of providing an opportunity of higher education to the boys and girls of the remote Sunderbans area. At first it started with only 3 teachers, 12 non-teaching staffs and a mere 47 students. Today, the total number of students are more than 1000. Currently, there are 8 Full-time teachers, 20 Part-time teachers and 19 Non-teaching Staffs (full-time and casual included).
