About College

Maharajadhiraj Uday Chand Women's College (MUC), Burdwan was founded on 1955. The institute is sponsored by the government of Bengal and affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The institution has been named in the honor of the former Raja of Burdwan, Maharajadhiraj Uday Chand Mahatab. Themain objective of this college is to provide higher education to women because socio-economic developmental ideals cannot be achieved without the participation of women.

Recently college has been granted the status of constitute college because of the introduction of PG (English Course). It is the first college under the University of Burdwan, which had received a B++ rating from NAAC. The institute not only obtains a 90% score in the 'Teaching-Learning and Evaluation' criterion, but its teacher evaluation system has also been awarded as a model (p 38) in the State-wise Analysis of Accreditation Report: West Bengal, December 2004 (7) published by NAAC.
