About College

Mekhliganj College was established on 1996, 22nd December, as the general Degree College of Coochbehar. It is located at the remotest part of the district adjacent to Bangladesh border. After partition Mekhliganj, once strategically important town, was converted into a backward town from both socio-economic as well as academic perspectives. To overcome this backwardness, the people of Mekhliganj Sub-division, though relentless truffle of almost one decade established the college so that the local people can get an opportunity to improve their level of awarness.

From its modest beginning in 1996, the college within a very short period has developed its own distinctive and inadequate faculty strength in the initial phase; the collage has grown both academically and physically within such a short time due to the relentless efforts of both the teaching and non-teaching staffs and we are also proud of our student who have place the college in good position in the academic map of the North Bengal University
