About College

Memari College, Burdwan was established in 1981, with a mission to provide excellence in education at the undergraduate level to the students of all communities and especially to the financially backward students in the rural area of the state. It was out of the ardent zeal of the educationist of the local rural people and utmost necessity of higher education for local and surrounding student that the College was established in the early phase of eighties of the last century .The college stands on a quiet place surrounded by greenish natural boundaries far away from the din and bustle of the semi-urban life. Overcoming the initial huddles of the construction of its own building, the College was shifted to its own building in May, 1985. The construction of building was accelerated with the financial assistance from the U.G.C, the govt. of West Bengal and generous donations by the local business community as well as common people, teachers, employees and students of the college. Now it caters to the educational needs of more then 2500 students in three main streams; Arts, Commerce and Science as well as professional ones, like Computer Science.  The college is well equipped with all modern facilities. The College is affiliated to the University of Burdwan, an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal.
