About College

Netaji Mahavidyalaya, Arambagh was established in 1948. The college is named after Subah Chandra Bose. For the first nine year, the college was affiliated to Calcutta University, as the intermediate college. In 1957, the college was upgraded to a Degree College. In 1960, the college was affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The college also provides the facility of studying some rare courses like Plant Protection, Computer Science, Electronics, Environmental Science and Vocational Courses.  

The goal of the college is to Inspire students to become ideal citizens of the nation by making them aware of their glorious cultural heritage and the rights from and duties to society. The vision and mission of the institute is to maintain balance between the scientific and technological development by introducing post-graduate courses, developing national and international and linkage particularly at the level of research and publications and tie-up with industries and other concerns.

The college is situated in Arambagh in the village of Kalipur, Hooghly, which is 42 Kms south to the university of Burdwan, 28 Kms West to the Tarekeshwar station, 14 Kms & 20 Kms north-east to Kamarpukur and Jairambat.  A Two storeyed building named after freedom fighter "Bijoy Modak" of more than 12,000 sqft in size was constructed in 2005. Another 3 storeyed building of 18,000 sqft having an attractive architectural design was also constructed in 2007. The College has recently transformed the one storeyed girls' hostel into a three storeyed one with the nice architectural view.
