About College

Nowgong Polytechnic (NP), Nagaon is a premier technical institute in the middle of Assam which was established in the year 1961. Initially the institute started it’s functioning from Nagaon ITI building and latter it was shifted to the present site in the year of 1965. At present the Institute has four braches namely Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering. There are a good number of laboratories and workshops with well equipped instruments and machineries. The institute has 3 hostels for boys and 1 hostel for girls. The institute has been built up with the necessary infrastructure for imparting technical education in the region and now entered into 50th glorious year of eventful existence. The year 2011 is celebrating as the Golden Jubilee Year with various activities and the final closing programme will be held from 21st to 23rd October as part of the celebrations.

Nowgong Polytechnic's campus is on a sprawling approximately 130 bighas of plot of land extending along the verdant scenic bank of the river Kolong, which is in the eastern part of the Nagaon city. The whole campus is covered by a boundary wall having a length of about 1663 m. With the majestic KOLONG on one side having a beautiful natural land scape, the campus provides an ideal setting for learning. Besides its old and new buildings (Academic) , the campus consist of two workshop buildings, canteen building, dispensary building, four hostels and altogether 38 numbers of staff quarters right from the Principal, HOD, Lecturer, Ministerial, Grade IV etc. All quarters are linked with a good network of road. The old institute building was constructed during the year 1964-74, which is a E-shaped two storied RCC building having plinth area 2290 sqm. Parallel to the main building there are the two Assam typed Workshops buildings. Besides the old building a new academic 3 storied RCC building was constructed in the year 1998 under the scheme of World Bank Project having plinth area of 968 sqm.
