About College

Onda Thana Mahavidyalaya, Murakata was established to promot the higher education in this region. The primary objective of the founders of this college is to provide a scope & opportunity of higher education to the people of this locality sepecially amongst the women and who are economically weak and are not in a position to send their wards to a distant college. The aim of the college is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in this era of information and teaching. The College offers under graduate courses in Arts Stream. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The College comes under the University of Burdwan. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star statuses by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.
