About College

P. N. Das College (PNDC), North 24 Parganas was established in 1962 by Late Debesh Das,a timber merchant. He provided the necessary finance to the college in memory of his father Late Priya Nath Das. It is a co-educational and affiliated college. The college was established for the progress and benefit of local students in socially and economically. The aim of the institution is to give its pupils a congenial atmosphere of learning, by taking individual care of each student and building up an intimate relationship between the teachers and the taught. The college offers Under graduate courses in Arts and commerce stream. The college has state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure.

The college is affiliated to the Calcutta University. It is the oldest of the modern universities in India. It was established in 1857 during the administration of Lord Canning, the Governor General of India. It is the only university in India which produced four Nobel laureates and has ranked consistently amongst the first five hundred universities in the world. It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent. It has been declared as a "Five Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
