Patrasayer Mahavidyalaya, Bankura is an affiliated and private aided College. The College was established to promote higher education in this area. The college is providing the needs of higher and quality education of the local people. The college was founded with a mission to provide excellence in education at the undergraduate level to the students of all communities and especially to the financially backward students in the rural area of the state. The College offers under graduate courses in Arts stream. The curriculum is designed by the Boards of Studies of Burdwan University. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The College is affiliated to the University of Burdwan. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. It has been awarded with 4 star statuses by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.
