About College

Rabindra Mahavidyalaya, Champadanga was established in 1961 and on the memorable birth-centenary of Rabindranath Tagore. The founder- father of the college worked hard to reach out to almost each home and every family of the locality with the holy message of learning.  A large number of people including educationists, businessmen, and even illiterate peasants have contributed towards the foundation of the college. College provides  a list of 16 'Honours' and 17 'Pass' subjects.

The organization mainly aimed at the education of people belonging to local community.  It is funded by the ‘University Grants Commission'. The college is a centre of academic and cultural excellence and it is emerged as the starting platform by an average ruralite who generally tends to suffer from the malady of 'scarce opportunities' in his or her life. The college also gets fund from the profit of Co-operative Societies for its all-round development.

The college is situated in Champadanga, an affluent village under the Trarakeswar Block, which is a very famous hub of good trade and commerce. Old Benaras Road passes through Champadanga. Champadanga is the birth place of Rabindranath Tagore. Late Netai Charan Hazra and his now deceased wife Phelubala Hazra donated Rs. 20,000 and 307 sataks of land situated at the side of the Old Benaras Rode.
