About College

Sarat Centenary College, Hooghly was established in 1976 as junior College with higher secondary course which was later upgraded to a degree college in 1978. It is also under the grant-in-aid scheme of the Govt. of West Bengal. The college has been recognized by the UGC under 2f in 1980. The College is promoting higher education in this area. The college is providing the needs of higher and quality education of the local people. It is a co- education college and located at Dhaniakhali, in Chinsurah Subdivision of Hooghly district. The place is famous for its glorious past and age-old handloom industry. The college offers under graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science stream. The aim of the college is to provide excellence in education at the undergraduate level to the students of all communities and especially to the financially backward students in this area. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The College is affiliated to the University of Burdwan, occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. All academic activities are carried out in accordance with the prescribed syllabi, examination schedules and academic calendar of the Burdwan University.
