About College

South Malda College (SMC),Malda was established in 1995. The college has played a pioneering role since inception in spreading higher education and scientific attitudes within the predominantly rural areas. This is a private and affiliated college. The College strives for socio-cultural as well as educational betterment of the surrounding areas. The college is recognized by UGC under 2(f) & 12(b). The college has state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure.

The College comes under the Gour Banga University, established in 2008 and situated in Malda District. The University was started with a mission to disseminate knowledge to fulfill growing socio-economic and technical manpower needs in the region. This is a State University established under the West Bengal Act XXVI 0f 2007. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
