About College

The college was founded way back in 1964 in Shayampur village of Howrah district some 75 kms away from Kolkata in the close vicinity of Gadiara – a well known tourist spot of southern West Bengal.

Late Murari Mohan Manna - the visionary pathfinder – being identified with the common man’s right to enlightenment and appreciating the necessity of spreading the lights of education to the thousands of under-privileged family for their empowerment, founded the college with whatever resources he was endowed with.

The genesis of the college was modest, as it offered general stream courses in humanities; science and commerce, but consolidating on the foundation of vision for growth, the curriculum bouquet soon started enriching itself to impart honours curriculum in many of the subjects and today the college has 14 departments of which 9 departments impart honours curriculum
