About College

Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya(TM), Purba Medinipur was established in 1948. The college is popularly called and known as Tamluk College, is situated in the Head Quarter of Purba Medinipur district, namely Tamluk, which is definitely a place of much historical importance and played a significant role in the freedom movement of the country. The college has been disseminating higher education among the students mostly coming from illiterate, semiliterate, rural, agriculture-based and even first generation-learner sections of the community. It is easy to reach the college by any mode of conveyance as the town is well connected both by road ways and railways. The college strives for socio-cultural as well as educational upliftment of the surrounding areas. The college offers under graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science stream. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

The college is affiliated to Vidyasagar University, established in 1981. The University was named after one of the most illustrious sons of Bengal as well as one of the doyens of Indian Renaissance; Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar. This is a renowned University in West Bengal.The University has been awarded with 3-star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
