Vivekananda College for Women (VCFW), Kolkata is a renowned college in Kolkata. The college was named after Swami Vivekananda, the great social reformer. The college is involved to prepare young women for the greater challenges of life. The college inculcates Economic independence, self-reliance, moral values and confidence to the students. Prime objective of the institution is the dissemination of knowledge in tune with the academic prescriptions of the University through imparting formal and informal education intended to develop creativity, critical thinking and social commitment. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college offers a wide choice of undergraduate courses both at honours and general level in disciplines of Arts and Science. The college has state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure.

The college is affiliated to the Calcutta University. It is the oldest of the modern universities in India. It was established in 1857 during the administration of Lord Canning, the Governor General of India. It is the only university in India which produced four Nobel laureates and has ranked consistently amongst the first five hundred universities in the world. It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent. It has been declared as a "Five Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
