The Organizing Body of NSO olympiad Entrance Examination is SOF ( Science Olympiad Foundation)The Science Olympiad Foundation, ( SOF ) is an educational foundation and a non-profit organisation, based at New Delhi ( India ), which promotes Science, Introductory Computer Education, Mathematics and English in India and other places like Singapore, Oman, Qatar, Nepal, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, U.A.E. and Durban. National Science Olympiads ( NSO ) Entrance Examination Test Syllabus for Class – 11

National Science Olympiads is a means to motivate students to strive for better and deeper understanding of scientific facts and data and to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills.

Class-11

Total Questions: 50 Times: 1 hr.

Section – 1:

Physics: Units & Measurements, Mechanics, Properties of Matter, Heat & Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Waves.

Chemistry:

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, The s-Block Elements, The p-Block Elements (Groups 13 and 14), Organic Chemistry - Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.

Section – 2 :

Higher Order Thinking Questions - Syllabus as per Section – 1.

Section – 3 :

Sets, Relations and Functions, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Logarithms, Complex Numbers & Quadratic Equations, Linear In equations, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, Straight Lines, Conic Sections, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Limits and Derivatives, Probability, Introduction to 3-D Geometry.
