Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test ( GPAT )

GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST (GPAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This test facilitates institutions to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into the Master’s (M.Pharm) program. The GPAT is a three-hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score.

From 2019, GPAT will be conducted by National Testing Agency in Computer Based Test mode only. The syllabus and the pattern of question paper would remain the same. There will be NO increase in the exam fees currently being charged. And this includes about a 70 pages of the syllabus which comprises all of the subjects included in all years of Bpharm course.

GPAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a PAN India level entrance exam conducted for admission to the Pharmacy programs at the masters’ level offered by various NTA approved Pharmacy colleges/institutions. GPAT is conducted and managed by the NTA (National Testing Agency).

Before applying for GPAT 2019, candidates should go through GPAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria and check whether they are eligible or not. The basic GPAT 2019 eligibility for candidates is a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. GPAT Application Form filling for the 2019 session is started from November 01, 2019. The last date of applying to GPAT Exam is November 30, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria for GPAT 2019

Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria notified by NTA can only appear for GPAT 2019 exam. In order to appear for GPAT 2019, candidates should fulfil the below GPAT 2019 eligibility criteria:

Nationality

The candidates willing to appear for GPAT must be Indian citizens.

Qualifying Examination

  • Aspirants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharm) of 4 years after their 10+2.
  • The lateral entry candidates should also possess a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy of 4 years duration after their 10+2.
  • Candidates in the final/fourth year of the Graduate Pharmacy Programme are also eligible to appear for the GPAT 2019.
  • It must be noted that Bachelor of Pharmacy students from the first to the third year is not eligible to take the GPAT 2019 exam. Age criteria There are no age restriction criteria specified by NTA to appear for GPAT 2019 exam.

GPAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria for PWD Candidates

As per the Persons with Disability (PWD) Act, 1995, a candidate appearing for GPAT exam, qualifies to be a PWD candidate if he/she is suffering from any of the below listed disabilities. The extent of physical disability should be at least 40% as prescribed by a recognized medical committee. The categories for PWD candidates as defined by the NTA are discussed below:

  • Physically handicapped
  • Visually impaired
  • Hearing impairment
  • Dumb

Persons with Disability candidates are also provided with approved means of teaching assistants, as chosen by the candidate on his/her application form. The form of teaching assistants provided for different types of the PWD candidates is presented below in the table:

Visually impaired and cerebral palsy candidates are allowed to bring a reader/scribe as per the scribe form mentioned on the GPAT website. Moreover, candidates can also avail the scribe facility from the NTA.

Candidates opting for scribe/reader will be given the opportunity to interact with them a day before the GPAT 2019 examination. Once the candidate has met with his/her scribe, he/she will be required to submit an undertaking regarding the same.

It must be noted that candidates with scribes/readers will be provided with a time extension of one hour for the computer-based exam.
