The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE), New Delhi introduced the national level common entrance exam called Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India. JEE Main examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. From 2019 onwards, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is going to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).JEE will be conducted by NTA twice a year for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmers in NIT's, IIIT's and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.

The Joint Entrance Exam will be conducted in two parts, JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE (Main) replaces the AIEEE entrance exam and JEE (Advanced) replaced the IIT-JEE entrance exam. Around 25220 seats Engineering and Architecture seats are filled every year on the basis of JEE Main Score.

The aim of the common entrance test has been mooted to reduce stress on students, who have to appear for multiple entrance examinations and to give greater relevance to the school education, especially the class 12 board examinations.

JEE Main 2021 Participating Institutions

Engineering aspirants can check the list of JEE Main 2019 participating institutes to know the institutes which will be offering admissions based on their performance in the national level entrance exam. A total of 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) will be the participating institutes of JEE Main 2019. Candidates who will clear JEE Main will be eligible to apply for admission to JEE Main participating institutes 2019.

From 2019, National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main twice a year in online mode. JEE Main 2019 for April session will be held between April 6 to 20. The application form of JEE Main 2019 for April session will release on February 8.
