National Eligibility and Entrance Test

The Ministry of Human Resource development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation for conducting efficient, transparent and international standard test in order to access the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions

As per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act -1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 and as amended from time to time, NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) 2019 (NEET (UG) - 2019) will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Indian Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Pondicherry. Intermediate graduates (10+2) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks can apply online at nta.ac.in. The exam will be conducted through pen paper based mode. NEET UG 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  Eligibility Criteria NEET 2019:

Candidates must check out the eligibility criteria for the NEET 2019 exam before moving ahead with the application process.

Nationality -

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons with Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals are also eligible.
  • Candidates belonging to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are now eligible for the 15% All India Quota seats.
  • Candidates from J & K state are eligible for 15% AIQ seats only on the basis of self-declaration.

Educational Qualifications -

  • A candidate should have done 12th from any recognised University or Board with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Biotechnology. MHRD has recently authorised students who have passed class 12th from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) or any State Open School to apply for the exam.
  • general candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology to become eligible for the exam.
  • There is a relaxation in the marks required for the reserved category of candidates. A physically disabled person of the general class needs to have a minimum aggregate of 45% to become eligible for the exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidate they are required to have scored a minimum 40% in aggregate to become eligible for the exam.

Age Limit -

  • Candidates should have, at least, 17 years of age at the time of admission.
  • As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court order, the upper age limit for the exam has been removed. Now, candidates above 25 years age are eligible to apply for the exam. Check the age criteria for the table given below:
