Assam Rifles

The Assam Rifles are one of the Paramilitary forces of India. The unit can trace its lineage back to a paramilitary police force that was formed under the British in 1835 called Cachar Levy. Since then the Assam Rifles have undergone a number of name changes before the name Assam Rifles was finally adopted in 1917. Assam Rifles has announced notification for the Compassionate appointment rally held at Shillong ( Meghalaya ), NRS-Guwahati to fill 64 Riflemen ( General Duty ) in Assam Rifles.

How to Apply :

The rally will be conducted through new application system. Candidates shall fwd their applications as per Appx ‘Q’ to HQ DGAR (Rec Br) along with a Demand Draft for Rupees fifty only (applicable to Gen and OBC candidates only) in favour of The Directorate General Assam Rifles, on SBI DGAR, Shillong, Code No. 7338 to enable us to issue call letters so as to reach Directorate 15 days prior to the commencement of the rally to under mentioned address SC and ST candidates are exempted from applications fee. No cash / postal order will be accepted:-

Regional Selection Board:  

Regional Selection Bd will be set up by respective IG / Force HQ to carry out the recruitment process in each State / UT and for prep of merit lists. These Boards will be headed by an offer of the rk of Comdt / Second-in-Comd with two offers not below the status of Asst Comdt and at least one Medical Offer. An SC / ST offer and an offer belonging to the minority may be co opted, if these Boards do not have representatives from these communities.

Method of Application:

The application will be made in the manner indicated below:-

(a)       Selection will be made annually through invitation of applications after giving wide publicity.

(b)       The process of establishing a website is in progress listing landline telephone numbers, mobile telephone numbers and other helpline assistance.

(c)        Application Form has been designed centrally in OMR sheet so that it can be scrutinized promptly through comptr.  Application Forms will be made avail to the candidates through wide media publicity in print media as well as ARWAN(Assam Rifles Wide Area Network).   No testimonials are required to be attached with the Application Form by the candidates.

(d)       An amount of Rs 50/- will be charged as application fee from candidates belonging to gen and OBC cat. However, no fee will be charged from candidates belonging to SC / ST community and Ex- Servicemen.

(e)       Call letters at home address will be issued by HQ DGAR to suitable candidates to appear at suggested loc on due date to undergo the various recruitment test. No call letter will be issued by hand. 

Conduct of Medical Test: On completion of PET and its simultaneous entry of results, the data will be avail to the MO on their cmptr for conduct of medical test. The conduct of medical test is to be done with simultaneous entry of details in the software. The candidates appearing for PMT to be checked for their finger print / photographs which will now be avail in the software since the same has been entered at the registration stage. The MOs can generate a temp rejection slip during the stage of PMT.

Conduct of Written Test

The following is suggested:-

(a)       All successful candidates in physical and medical test to be given a date for appearing in written test.

(b)        The written test will consist of only OMR based objective type multiple choice questions to be answered using a ball pen.  A question paper should be of 100 marks and it will comprise at least 100 questions.

(c)        While all the question papers in an examination may contain the same set of questions, the question papers may be in different series, which will have the questions in different order.

(d)        The question paper will be set to assess the general awareness/general knowledge, knowledge of elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of the candidates in English/Hindi.  The questions will be set both in Hindi and English. 

(e)       The question papers should be set centrally.   

 (f)         Candidates will be required to answer in OMR sheet, which should be signed both by the candidate and invigilator.

(g)        The candidates may be allowed to take carbon copy of the answer sheet.  Answer key to the question paper to be posted on the website and displayed on the notice board after the written examination is completed.

(h)       The candidates applying under the compassionate appointment scheme of the government will not be required to appear in the written test.

Merit List.  Based on the results of PET, medical examination and the written test, HQ DGAR (Record Br) will draw an overall merit list of the candidates. This will be part of the final bd proceedings.

Final Selection :

 The final selection of the candidates will be made by Records Br, HQ DGAR based on the order of merit in each type of cat in relation to the number of vac in each type of cat. Dispensations where reqd, as recommended by the bd will be examined in conjunction with the MHA policy on the subject and processed by Records Br for sanction by DGAR. List of finally selected candidates will be forwarded to ARTC & S by Records Branch HQ DGAR and posted on AR website on declassification of results.  The cut off percentage of marks for appt will be as under:

(a)       Gen and Ex-servicemen                 : 35%

(b)       SC / ST / OBC                                   : 33%

Joining Orders :      

ARTC&S will issue orders through registered letters / speed post to finally selected candidates to report to ARTC & S for further rect trg subject to confirmatory medical examination to be held at ARTC & S.

Final Document Check:

On reporting ARTC & S, the candidates will be put in Transit Cell. Detailed document check will be carried out by a board of offers within seven days of arrival. Following documents will be checked:-

(a)       Permanent Residence Certificate.

(b)       Education Certificate.

(c)        Character Certificate.

(d)       Birth Certificate.

(e)       Caste Certificate.

Confirmatory Medical Examination

A confirmatory medical bd will be held at ARTC & S for all those candidates finally selected for enrolment. The composn of the medical bd will be as per the instrs of HQ DGAR. However, in case the members of the medical bd do not arrive in time, the members of the previous medical bd will be retained for the medical exam till arrival of the members. Successful candidates will commence rect trg at nominated trg est under the arngs of ARTC & S as per orders of GS Branch, HQ DGAR depending on the avail of the pls. Candidates declared unfit may be examined by an appeal panel. Representation will be filed within fifteen days of rejection by the medical bd. The appeal will be decided within a month of date of rejection. If found med fit by the appeal panel the candidate will be rect against wastage. Medical exam carried out at rally sites in respect of NE States’ candidates will be treated as final.
