UPSC 2017 Civil Service Exam is the gateway to All India Services like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 22 other Central Services. The UPSC IAS Prelim 2017 exam is going to conduct on 18th June 2017 and IAS Main Exam will be held on 28th October 2017 (Tentatively). The IAS stands for Indian Administrator Service. The purpose of this recruitment is to select the best suitable candidate for the Indian Administration Unit who will give their contribution in serving the country. It is the national level platform which elects the exam i.e. civil services examination, Engineering service examination, naval academy examination, Officers’ training academy examination and combined defense services examination. Its official website is www.upsc.gov.in. Union Public Service Commission has released the Indian Civil Services notification 2017. Total 980 vacancies are announced by the UPSC this year. The syllabus for the Preliminary Exams for Paper-I:

  1. Current events of national and international importance.
  2. History of India and Indian National Movement.
  3. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
  4. Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  5. Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
  6. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change
  7. General Science


The syllabus for the Preliminary Exams for Paper-II:

  1. Comprehension
  2. Interpersonal skills including communication skill
  3. Decision making and problem solving
  4. Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  5. General mental ability
  6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level)
  7. English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level)
  8. Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level. (will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation)
